Joan Goldsmith I am an abstract expressionist. My paintings emerge, and I listen closely to what they tell me. They have, at times, been referred to as landscapes or my personal vision of nature. They often reflect a response to my environment, but are neither representational nor about any one moment in time. Most of my work eliminates hard edges, using modulations of color and lines, while still operating in the realm of squares and rectangular spaces.
